SanPa: Italian Victory in the first class
An italian rider, the current national champion, and a young Italian horse: is there any better way to start the 14th CSI5* Vincenzo Muccioli Challenge show jumping competition at San Patrignano?
The winners of the We Free Prize, first on schedule and reserved to seven year old horses, were Emilio Bicocchi and Graffio del Terriccio, a bay by Animo and out of a daughter of Risketou. The pair went clean in 57,01" right in front of Francois Mathy Jr on Polinska des Isles, riding for Belgium, with a clean and 57,34". Third went to Ducth rider Albert Zoer on Winnipeg with no faults and 57,65".
The class had a total of twenty horse and rider team, mine of which completed the corse with no faults. The corse itself was evenly built, without any real traps, especially for young horse just starting in international competition. All of the riders in fact seemed to let their horses jump the course according to their own natural abilities. Emilio Bicocchi was enthusiastic about his stallion's performance, " Graffio del Terricio is a horse with great potential. I have been riding him since he was just three years old and he has constantly gotten better with time. HE placed third at the performance test and at the five year old Championship as well as second in the six year old category. He already has proven himself with roughly fifty clean rounds to his name and he has won the last six classes he has been in. I am very satisfied with today's result because a place like San Patrignano presents a real challenge for him and he responded very well. The course in itself was not very difficult, but the surroundings, the grass arena, the grandstands, the activity, are all new for a young jumper".
And so went the first class, named "We Free" after the drug use prevention and education project created by the San Patrignano Community in 2002. Since its inception, it has reached more than 500,000 secondary school students, through theatrical presentations starring young people who are completing the program in the Community and recovering from addiction themselves. In the last year over 49 shows were done all over Italy, meeting more than 30,000 students and at the same time 6000 students came to visit the Community. There is also an online community with blogs, forums, photo galleries, and news. This year the project will have its moment on October 9 for We Free day, where students will be able to meet with organizations dealing with a variety of social issues.
