/As in previous years, the Congress is organised both academically and 
administratively by the EAPCCT Scientific and Meetings Committee. This 
will ensure that delegates gain maximum benefit from the Congress. The 
Congress will once again be co-sponsored by the American Academy of 
Clinical Toxicology, which will also accredit the Congress for 
continuing medical education. The Pre-Congress will focus on 
"Extracorporeal elimination techniques in the management of the poisoned 
patient", and will include case presentations and a Pro/Con-debate using 
the popular interactive voting system./

/The principal themes of the academic programme of the Congress are: 
Counterfeit and adulterated products and drugs; Toxicity of 
antithrombotic agents; Toxicity of herbal products and dietary 
supplements, Skin and eye toxicology; Severe adverse effects of 
poisoning therapies; New insights in toxicology of psychotropic drugs; 
The toxicology of ethanol; Usefulness & development of simple diagnostic 
tools in clinical toxicology./

/The Pro/Con-debates on controversial toxicological subjects which 
proved so popular in London will again take place during the main 
Congress, as well as the Pre-Congress. There will be a poster discussion 
session featuring a selection of interesting and controversial topics. 
New for this year will be a Round table discussion focussing on training 
and professional development for clinical toxicologists and poison 
centre specialists./
